The 12u Rebels - MD scored 37 runs this weekend in near freezing conditions to win the Lisle Fall Bash Consolation Championship.  The Rebels finished 2-1 in pool play on Saturday which began with light snow and rain showers.  The continued cold weather on Sunday didn't stop the Rebels from wining the Consolation Championship game in dramatic fashion with a 3-4 win in the bottom of the 7th inning.  The 1st place finish earns the team a "B" bid to the ASA Nationals in July 2015.  Congratulations and GO REBELS!

The Downers Grove Rebels took second in the USSSA Qualifier in a very closely contested tournament.  The Rebels went 2 - 0 in pool play defeating the Lisle Slammers 14U and Palos Power 14U.
They started bracket play against the Mt. Prospect Power, defeating them 4 - 0 in 6 innings.  In the semi finals, the Rebels squared off against the BRW Blast 14U team and let a 3 - 0 lead slip away from them late in the game behind a rally from the Blast which allowed them to take a 4 - 3 lead.  The Rebels weathered the storm and tied the game in the bottom of the 7th at 4 - 4.  Going into international tie breaker the score was 5 - 5 after the 8th inning.  BRW took a 6 - 5 lead in the 9th inning and with runners on 2nd and 3rd the Rebels were able to clear the bases with a walk off double to secure the victory!
In the Championship game the Rebels faced the Yorkville Fury and were leading 3 - 2 until the bottom of the sixth when 2 uncharacteristic errors opened the gates allowing the Fury to score 4 runs to take a 6 - 3 lead.  The Rebels were not yet finished and in the top of the 7th clawed their way back into the game scoring 2 runs and had the bases loaded with two outs.  Unfortunately, despite a 10 pitch at bat, the final out sealed the victory for the Fury 6 - 5.  Additionally, the Rebels secured a Bid to Nationals!
Great character was displayed by the Rebels and is something they will continue to build upon for the future!  Great Tourney Girls!
